Employees Union - COVID-19 Important update
Dear EU Member
We trust that you are well during this difficult period. It has been a challenging time for all the people of South Africa but we need to remain positive and confident that this shall pass.
The EU Executive would like to keep you updated on several key issues during this time:
- The EU executive would like to assure our union members that while we remain in lockdown, your union continues to work on your behalf, to ensure that your rights and wellbeing remain foregrounded in the minds of the university management.
- The EU continues to engage with the university to ensure that your working environment remains optimal for you to continue your work in a productive manner. Additionally, once UCT staff return to work, the EU will continue to engage with management to ensure that the necessary policies and procedures, protective equipment and sanitizers are made available to ensure that the work environment remains safe.
- EU members are reminded that the council elections are upon us. Samuel Chetty, one of your EU executives, is a candidate in this election. We would encourage our members to use your vote to ensure that your Union continues to have a voice un the highest decision making body of the university.
Yasmin remains available on Microsoft Teams, Skype for business, email and telephone. Please note that Yasmin and any other union official will not be able to meet members in person as we continue to respect the law on lockdown.
Regards
Executive Committee
